Air Infiltration
The ability of air to get into your home through your exterior.

Impact Resistance
The ability of a material to withstand force.

R Factor
Numerical value rating the energy efficiency of a window with regards to the resistance of heat and cold through it. Higher R Factor numbers indicate better insulating value.

Perm Rate
How rapidly excess moisture escapes from your home.

Polymers  
Additives in siding.

Ultraviolet Light
Damaging rays of the sun that cause severe fading of carpets, furniture, window dressings and artwork as it comes through windows, and fades siding significantly.

Visible Transmittance
The amount of visible light that is allowed to penetrate glass.

What is the R factor of  single pane windows ?
0.08 is the typical R factor of common single pane windows. A storm window also has an R factor of  0.08

What is the R factor of  double pane thermal windows ?
1.76 is the typical R factor of common double pane windows.

What is the R factor of  triple pane windows ?
2.6 is the typical R factor of common triple pane windows.

What is the R factor of  low-e argon windows ?
3.3 is the typical R factor of commonly available low e argon windows.

How is argon gas used in windows?
Since argon is denser than air it helps to keep heat and cold from going through your windows. The problem comes in when you consider that window manufacturers are obligated to fill windows with only 1/3 argon gas, and since it is heavier than air, it simply sinks to the bottom of the chamber. The top 2/3's are simply double pane windows, but you are paying for argon gas.

What is the best way to get an estimate for new windows, siding or a sunroom?
You need to have someone come to your home, measure your exterior and/or openings, explain your options and answer all your questions before presenting you with an accurate estimate, not "guestimate."

How long will Thermal Shield Enterprises, LLC honor estimates?
Thermal Shield Enterprises, LLC promises to honor it's written estimates for one year from the date of the estimate.

What if I find a less expensive price from another company?
If you find a wall system or vinyl replacement windows or a sunroom with identical features, advantages and benefits for a lower price within 30 days of purchase, Thermal Shield Enterprises, LLC will cheerfully refund the difference plus 10% to you. (Price quote must be on a written contract form made by a legitimate and reputable siding / window/ sunroom company.)

What if something goes wrong with my windows, siding or sunroom after Thermal Shield Enterprises, LLC is done with the job?
Call us and we'll take care of it. Thermal Shield Enterprises, LLC's warranty is simple, if it breaks we fix it. (Thermal Shield Enterprises, LLC's warranty is good for a lifetime in relation to defects in material.)
